A prelude to the SPHERE album to follow in 2021 - an album dedicated to the the incredible legacy of jazz legend Thelonious Monk, but produced in the way only Sven Hammond can - the FIRST entire Monk tribute album featuring the hammond organ ++ collaborating with some of the Netherlands finest hip hop and soul artists.

WITH DOLLY DOTS 'SISTERS ON TOUR'
Sven was asked to join long time friend Angela + the Dolly Dots on their sold out tour.. 'Sisters on tour'
Planned for 20/21, due to Covid 19, and a complete sell out, rather than downsize or compromise, the Dolly Dots delayed the whole tour 1 year - and is now due to take place 21/22.

''Er gaat geen dag voorbij in ons leven zonder dat iemand over de Dots begint om vervolgens hún herinneringen te delen. Daarna komt altijd de vraag: ’wanneer gaan jullie weer eens optreden?’.
Na de succesvolle reunie in 2007 en 2008 met uitverkochte Ahoyconcerten en een tour door alle concerthallen overleed Ria in 2009 na een ziektebed. Daarmee was het klaar, vonden we. Een voor allen, allen voor een. Maar in 2016 traden we toch weer eens kort op bij de Toppers in de Arena en dat bleek hartverwarmend leuk.
De Dolly Dots komen in seizoen 21/22 naar de Nederlandse theaters, ze zullen worden begeleid door de opwindende Sven Figee Band. Vele hits zullen voorbij komen maar deze keer willen we ook het verhaal achter het succes vertellen. Hoe was het om een Dolly Dot te zijn? Wat gebeurde er achter de schermen en hoe gingen we er mee om?
Waar we ook terecht kwamen en wat we ook deden; het was altijd een krankzinnig circus waarin we terechtkwamen. We waren als groep een bezienswaardigheid en samen groeiden we op in een glazen kooi. We waren op onszelf aangewezen. Gelukkig hadden we elkaar en we maakten er altijd wat van.
Een intieme avond met ouder wordende voormalige tieneridolen die met veel zelfspot terugkijken naar die bijzondere tijd met elkaar. De Dolly Dots, ‘Het verhaal’.

With only with his trusted Hammond organ and a piano he performs music by Bach, Vivaldi and Schumann that effortlessly flows into works by Thelonious Monk and The Beatles to arrive at his own work via Booker-T and Jimmy Smith.
A musical journey framed with fascinating stories from a 25-year career in music.

Aan het begin van het seizoen bracht Sven Figee in een orgelgevecht een ode aan de overleden Cees Schrama. Dat was een succes, daarom ging hij ook het duel aan met Thijs Boontjes. En nu daagt hij Elvis Sergo uit. Sven en Elvis doen vanavond hun 'Hammond battle' op het podium. Ze spelen ‘Let’s Roll’ begeleid door bassist Xander Vrienten en drummer Thijmen Mollema.

Sven Figee is the Lucky Luke of the Hammond: he plays faster than his shadow and it is always striking. Anyone who has seen him at our Wanderlust festival knows that this man knows no limits on his instrument. From Bach to blues and from Vivaldi to Metallica. His physical way of making music is a feast for the eyes and ears: steaming, ringing, squeaking, crackling and intoxicating, but also poetic and intensely intimate.

Sven Figee is de Lucky Luke van de Hammond: hij speelt sneller dan z’n schaduw en het is altijd raak. Wie hem op ons festival Wanderlust heeft gezien, weet dat deze man geen grenzen kent op zijn instrument. Van Bach tot blues en van Vivaldi tot Metallica. Zijn fysieke manier van muziek maken is een lust voor oog en oor: stomend, ronkend, piepend, krakend en bedwelmend maar ook poëtisch en intens intiem.
