Sven Figee (1975) has been called the Lucky Luke of the Hammond: he plays faster than his shadow and it is always striking. This man knows no limits on his instrument. From Bach to blues and from Vivaldi to Metallica. His physical way of making music is a feast for the eyes and ears: steaming, ringing, squeaking, crackling and intoxicating, but also poetic and intensely intimate. In 2006 he founded the band 'Sven Hammond' that since has released 11 albums. Cosmic Gold, the latest album has been released in April '25 and left critics exhilarated and enthusiastic and has since spread throughout Europe on radio (FIP!) and via streaming platforms.

Hired by the incredibly successful Saturday night prime time TV-show 'Matthijs Gaat Door' Sven has extended the band to a 15 piece big band called the 'Sven Hammond Big Band' with 2 drummers, percussion, a big horn section, strings, extra keys and singers.
They have made 40 episodes of this now legendary show in 2021 - 2023 collaborating with a great selection of national and international music legends and stars.
Since then the band has drawn big crowds to festivals and theaters. They have done multiple tours: a tribute to American legend 'Ray Charles' (The Sven Hammond Big Band Plays Ray Charles) and a series of sold out open air theaters throughout Holland the past summer of '25 with friend and Dutch TV-Legend Matthijs van Nieuwkerk called 'Feelin' Alright'. A new series of shows will be published soon (an 'inside' theater tour as well as the open air concerts with special guests.

Being trained a classical pianist Sven is also currently 'house pianist' of the successful and 10 + year running Dutch TV-show 'Podium Klassiek' (NTR) where he has a regular item in the show.

Besides being a performing artist, Sven has developed his composing skills over the years and has composed the entire score for the feature film / nature documentary 'North Sea - Nature Untamed' (De Wilde Noordzee) The movie has been released in the Dutch cinemas on September 12, 2024 and was a big success: over 150.000 tickets sold + a 'Gouden Kalf' (Dutch Oscar) for most successful documentary of The Netherlands
